How to get your school involved

Inviting local clubs and businesses to join with you:

  • Approaching Community Service Clubs for support.

Offer to be a guest speaker for your local Rotary, Lions, Soroptimists, Jaycees Clubs etc.

Service clubs often meet weekly and are usually looking for interesting speakers. If you offer to speak at one of their meetings, it gives you the opportunity to tell members about your school and this project and why you feel it's important for children in your district to have their own copy of the book.

Print out the forms which can be found lower down this page:

1. letter to your local Service Club President;
2. Attitude Books Project introduction Pdf, and
3. excerpts of testimonials Pdf, then forward them on to introduce the project.

  • Invite a local ethical business to co-sponsor books.

This initiative will offer lasting promotion to any of your local businesses as they will have the opportunity to brand books with a label inside the cover.

History shows that A for Attitude is often kept in the family for years.

When children and parents open the book, the branding label will keep on reminding them of the generous business owner who gave them the book.

We suggest you acknowledge and promote these sponors through your school newsletter to support their donation and encourage them to become your ongoing sponsor. Remember, it's got to be a win/win for everyone to make sure this continues.

Invite the business owner to visit our website or to call our office to discuss their possible involvement.

• Ask for support from your School Patrons
You may also have people affiliated with your school who want to support your students for no personal benefit except for the good feeling they get in sharing. Again, we figure that it's most effective when you personally discuss this gesture with them.

We suggest you:

  • let them know that their sponsorship for this initiative will last for years to come and give them the option of having their name in the book as the patron along with the opportunity to personally present the books to each student, and
  • offer to promote their gesture with a mention in your school newsletter.

If you are a parent, teacher or chaplain, and would like to take part in launching this initiative in your local school, here's how you can make it happen:

  • Fundraise to purchase books for your Yr 3 students.
By giving these books to each child when they reach Yr 3, you'll be  creating an ongoing hands-on 'Can Do' culture in your school, to:
    •  tackle bullying
    •  raising self-esteem &
    •  build resilience
